About Cameron
The current Composer-in-Residence is Cameron Jones, a senior at Tennessee State University, whose innovative work reflects both strong technical skill and a deep cultural perspective.
As a developing composer, Cameron approaches his music with intention and clarity, creating works that are both musically compelling and meaningfully expressive.
His compositions contribute to the evolving sound of the Nashville African American Wind Symphony, helping to shape the storytelling and artistic direction of NAAWS’s concert programming while expanding the ensemble’s contemporary repertoire.
Through this initiative, selected composers collaborate with the ensemble and artistic team to develop original music that reflects diverse voices and cultural experiences.
Their compositions are premiered at NAAWS concerts, providing meaningful exposure and professional performance credits. The program expands the wind band repertoire while nurturing the next generation of composers shaping the future of concert music.
Help fund new works and opportunities for emerging composers.
