HONOR BAND INFORMATION
Nominate your student
The Nashville African American Wind Symphony, Inc. is gearing up for our 4th Annual Youth Honor Band Festival, taking place March 20–22, 2026 at James Lawson High School. We are excited to support music educators and their band programs by offering a three-day musical experience that supports both developing and advanced young musicians. This immersive weekend includes rehearsals with esteemed guest clinicians, educational workshops for participating students and their directors, and a culminating concert that showcases what students have learned while challenging them to explore a wider and more rigorous repertoire.
Thanks to the generous support of our presenting sponsor, KHS America, participation in this festival is completely free for all nominated students. Students wishing to participate must be nominated by their band director, and directors are asked to complete the nomination form by February 6, 2026. Band Directors may nominate multiple students. When nominating students, please note that middle school participants should be capable of performing Grade 2 band literature, while high school nominees should be prepared for Grade 3–4 literature.
We also ask that directors nominate only those students who can commit to the full festival weekend, including all rehearsals and the final performance. The Youth Honor Band Festival will conclude with a public concert on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 5:00 PM at James Lawson High School.
We look forward to collaborating with you and contributing to the musical growth and development of your young performers through this enriching experience.
